Nacivre “Charlie” Charles arrived in the United States at a young age and began his career in maintenance with GDG. Starting from humble beginnings as a push mower operator, he quickly advanced to become a tractor driver and eventually a foreman in 1984. Around that time, he also started his own small business, transporting crew workers to work in station wagons that could carry at least seven passengers. As his business grew, he purchased a van capable of transporting 16 passengers.
In 1981, he met Marie Baptiste, and together they had two beautiful children, Emerson and Nadlie Charles, who grew up in North Miami. Throughout his time at GDG, Charlie often found himself in conflict with his supervisors, advocating for his fellow workers when they were treated unfairly. His passion for justice led to his temporary dismissal from the company, but the crew members he had defended protested, refusing to work until he was reinstated. After four days, Mr. Gene, the owner, called him back to work, offering him a raise, though asking him to keep it a secret. True to his principles, Charlie shared the news with the workers, leading them to ask for raises as well.

Before his time in the U.S., Charlie was involved in teaching both children and adults in Haiti to read and write, starting at the age of 17. Some of those students now live in Guadeloupe and Haiti, continuing to thrive thanks to his dedication. Later, he became involved in protests alongside Father Gerard Jean-Juste, fighting for the release of people detained at the Krome Detention Center. This activism led to his permanent dismissal from GDG.
Following his departure from GDG, Charlie worked as a truck driver for BCI for four years, then for Sky Chef, catering services to American Airlines, for nearly five years. In 1998, he expanded his professional portfolio by building his first duplex, marking his entrance into real estate. He attended Miami Jackson High School from 1985 to 1987 and later attended Miami Dade College, where he passed the test to become a corrections officer, though he chose not to pursue that path.
A lifelong learner, Charlie studied at Gold Coast to earn his real estate license, and took code enforcement classes at Florida Atlantic University (FAU). He holds a certificate in ethics and political consulting. In addition to his professional accomplishments, he has been a small business owner, delivering critical services to his community.
Over the years, Charlie has led efforts to support those in need, hosting turkey drives for 14 years and delivering over 450,000 masks and hand sanitizers to communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. His love for politics and music fuels his passion for community service. He continues to help affected families, especially after hurricanes, ensuring they have access to hot meals and water. Additionally, he regularly offers small jobs to children to help them earn money for school supplies.
Charlie is a proud father of four children—three daughters and one son—all of whom are well-educated and professionally successful. He is also a grandfather to nine beautiful grandchildren, ranging from newborn to 21 years old. Met Anne D Charles and together they have 2 beautiful Daughters, Shellbie Samantha and Danielle P Charles. Deeply rooted in his faith, he is a Christian Catholic and serves as the father of the choir Humility at St. James Catholic Church in North Miami, Florida. His life’s mission is dedicated to his community and his family.
